We are travelling next week and I have flights and accommodation sorted but no transfer. We will be landing about lunchtime and I was wondering if there is a bus or train from Alicante airport to the town? Any advice gratefully accepted.

Forget using a train. You'd have to get the bus into Alicante, a train to Callosa, then a taxi to Formentera.
Using a bus would be equally painful. You have to get the non-stopping bus to Torrevieja, another one back to Guardamar, then one across to Almoradí. By then, your holiday would be halfway over.

Sometimes when you are so far from the airport, and depending on how long you are staying, it could be much cheaper just to hire a car.

Hi Sue, we have found it easier for the 2 of us to hire a car and have found booking direct with Drivalia at Alicante Airport is the best option. Although I intend to be going over in May next year and there will be 8 of us so I am currently getting taxi quotes in (approx. £60.00 return per car). With Drivalia direct the car is only costing us for 7 days £121.00 for a fully insured no worries policy. I hope you get sorted and enjoy your time in Formentera Del Segura.
