Morning folks,

Just thought I'd share an interesting article from "Eye on Spain" about changes in shopping behaviour leading up to and during lockdown:

Kind regards,

Kim

Kinda depends on where you live and where you are able to shop I'd say.

Our nearest Lidl for instance is about 10km away in Almoradi and with Mercadonna, Superdumbo, and Hiperber, all little more than a km away its impossible to justify travelling that far.

Similarly like many there are things we like to buy from Iceland or Pick-n-Pay in Guardamar, but again both are too far away to justify visiting.

On the other hand if you live in say La Marina or Quesada it's likely nothing much will have changed at all.

In terms of quantities overall we're not buying more but are buying more at each outing simply to decrease the number of times we have to go out.

HI K2,

I gave up with the poll after I realised how many I was going to "tick" (or be sick). I used to "shop" about once a month. (used to eating & drinking out!) Now I visit to my local shop (24 seconds away) It costs more, but not been in my car for 22 days. Good job I like cooking.

Keep well & safe

Hi Kimmy,

How interesting, we are just buying a lot less and are using to opportunity to avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream and bread which we used to go out and buy as the whim took us.  We are social drinkers only so we aren't even buying alcohol.

We just hope social isolation won't last too long so we can go back to our bad ways.

Regards

Vivienne

Hi Vivienne,

If only..... we're shopping in the same shop, but my hunter-gatherer's doing the shopping on his own, which has led to all sorts of things turning up that wouldn't usually make an appearance in our cupboards.  I didn't know Consum sold Cadbury's chocolate, let alone that it came in slabs the size of floor tiles! 😯🤣

Best wishes,

Kim

I think my hunter gatherer is better trained or mean, you decide which. He has already learned his lesson by means of an increased waist line.

Sometimes chocolate sounds good.

Hahahahahaha

best wishes

Not to mention, Ray, the "guilt" purchases 😉There's a lot more wine (which hubby doesn't drink) arriving in our kitchen than I would usually need for home consumption......🤔  But I've worked out that it's probably something to do with the family-size bags of Cheese & Onion crisps (which I don't eat) and crates of beer (which I don't drink) sharing the cupboard space.  He's so transparent...... 🤣

My shopping experience has improved. Fewer people in the shops, less traffic on the road. In San Juan D Alacant on my doorstep Dial Prix, Consum and Aldi. Less than 2km Carrefour hypermarket. The nearest open tobacco shop is in Mutxamel near to Mercadonna.

Fresh chicken, meat and vegetables were a problem in the first 2 weeks. Now it´s difficult to find flour and eggs.
