Smoking what are the Rules

Prior to the last lockdown, patrons were allowed to smoke on terraces in designated areas at least 2m from other customers.  However, I believe the current regulation is that smoking is not allowed on terraces.  If you saw smokers on bar terraces in Torrevieja, I suspect that it was Spanish people ignoring the rules.  Bars, as well as patrons, risk a fine if caught, so perhaps the bar owners weren't aware?

Not supposed to smoke on the terraces.  Not supposed to walk around the street smoking either as you have to remove your mask 😷. However , seems a lot of people just choose to ignore it & the police would have a full time job on their hands trying to catch everyone. 

I’ve started to cough a lot when someone smokes near me at a bar. It does actually irritate my airways.  A maskless cougher?  They sometimes take the hint ;) 

I think I may take up smoking just to stop wearing the mask when it’s stinking hot 🥵;) 

The rule in the Valencian Community from today until reviewed June 7 is no smoking nor vaping in bars, cafes etc.

Smoking or vaping is allowed in the open air as long as you are at least 2 metres away from other people.

Sorry but you are mistaken.. It is MASKS  that you can remove when you are out but only  if you can distance 2 metres ...

This is the rule:

 No se podrá fumar en la vía pública, terrazas, playas u otros espacios al aire libre, cuando no se pueda respetar la distancia mínima inter-personal de, al menos, 2 metros. Esta limitación será aplicable también para el uso de cualquier otro dispositivo de inhalación de tabaco, pipas de agua, cachimbas o asimilados incluidos cigarrillos electrónicos o vapeo en espacios al aire libre o cerrados.

Basically it says no smoking in the open air if you're not 2 metres away from another person. If you want to check just click on the link I've given, 

If you read section 3 you'll see that you have to wear a mask in public, the rule for taking it off on the beach or around the pool is if you can keep 1.5 metres away from another person.

(Unless I've read it wrong - any Spanish readers please let me know if I've misread anything.)
