Top up insurance
Am now registered on the Spanish health system. Any ideas what is not covered by it (I have seen people posting on here about prescription charges, for example)? Has anyone taken out top up insurance?

There is no insurance covering prescription charges. There is a sliding scale of charges, related to your income, in the Valencia region. Most charges are are matter of a few cents or euros. But payment for long term specialised drugs can be costly, but very rare.
For example, my partner uses a variety of medications for conditions affecting older men, most of which are fully controlled by standard drug regimes applicable to many people. The cost of these is occasionally as much as eight euros per month, so not devastating.
Some of the private insurers have an allowance within their contracts for a certain sum for prescriptions, but it is usually limited.
