No.  When the sun goes down or the weather is overcast and cloudy your solar panels do not perform.

I am in the process of having Solar Panels fitted by Iberdrola.  It takes a bit of effort to get the right contact details of a Iberdrola Representative.  Even the local store which says talk to us about Smart Solar will not assist you with processing the quote.  The whole thing has taken about 8 weeks so far and I have just reached the subcontractor visit to measure the roof to check what Iberdrola has quoted will fit.  I advise stick with it as using alternative suppliers/installers albeit cheaper in quote is fraught with problems (no documentation - legalisation-connection to the network grid etc)

Iberdrola take care of everything, if you decide to proceed Private message me and I will give you contact details of the Iberdrola

Hi,

maybe the attached article from MoneySavingExpert might be of help to you.  It is about solar panels in the UK but the principles will apply to solar panels bought anywhere. It is unbiased in as much as they are not trying to sell solar panels, just giving independent advice on costs, potential savings and return on investment.

Aitch.

Is that from experience. I find that difficult to believe as they still produce electricity out of direct sunlight and work well in the north of england. PV panels are far better now than they used to be. Obviously they dont work at night when the sun goes down. You then use the stored electricity or the grid depending on your system.

It is true.  I speak with experience.  I am NOT impressed.  If you do the maths then you will NOT be happy.

I cant speak from experience, just from what my customers back in the UK told me. If they were happy in the Manchester area where there is very little sun then I would expect better in Spain. I see you're in Romana. Is solar your only supply in a rural area? How old is the system?  as I said the panels are far more efficient now. Maybe the system fitted wasn't really adequate. I know you can only trust the advice you are given by the installers. Is it that from what you were advised that the system doesn't meet your expectations with stored energy etc. Just going off the comment that it doesn't work when the sun goes down. It is afterall solar power not lunar power.

I have just had Solar panels fitted by Iberdrola, I went to the Iberdrola office in Alicante, Carrer Alemamania, and spoke to Maria Gil who speaks English. She explained the process and grants available, which I believe will reduce the total cost by at least a third.

The panels seem to be working well with up to 3 Kw/ h at present from a 4 Kw system. Hope this helps.
