I have just had Solar panels fitted by Iberdrola, I went to the Iberdrola office in Alicante, Carrer Alemamania, and spoke to Maria Gil who speaks English. She explained the process and grants available, which I believe will reduce the total cost by at least a third.

The panels seem to be working well with up to 3 Kw/ h at present from a 4 Kw system. Hope this helps....

...

We have a nominal 4kw system on our house back in Dorset.  The only time I have ever seen anything approaching 4kw was on a freezing cold day with brilliant clear sunshine.  The output from solar panels drops off when they get hot.

On a normal summer's day we get about 3 kW maximum.

If you go down the solar route why not add a battery bank that will help out at night?

Clearly solar panels do work, why else would Spain and even the UK have acres for ground covered in them.

They work even on cloudy days, the output will be less, however they still produce power. Its UV light that produces power, obviously the more sun the higher the UV will be.

You can have a self supply set up where you have batteries and an inverter, which coverts the solar power to the electricity stored in batteries for home or business use.

The other system is where Solar power produced from your panels goes straight into the grid. You continue to have normal electricity supply from a suplier as you would without solar panels and pay for what you use. The grid in the UK pays you for what electricity your panels produce.

You would need to find out what systems are available in Spain and choose what's best for you. There is the outlay for the panels etc but there is a big benefit especially now with electricity prices as they are.

Get recomendations and ask to see some systems already installed and research, research, is my advise.
