Am thinking of moving from Mallorca to Gran Alacant this year and would love advice about where my daughter can continue her education, she is doing the Spanish Bachiller Cientifico.

I will be living there with my 16 year old daughter and my labrador. Is it dog friendly? Are there green spaces to walk him and doggy beaches?

I will also be looking for a home and a job, how difficult will this prove?

Would love to hear from anyone who is living there

Thanks

Hi, my husband and I have lived in Gran Alacant for 5 years and find it a very friendly place.  There are lots of social activities for all ages if you want to find new friends.  We are retired although I am manager of the local SATs Dog Charity shop.  The population is made up up quite a few nationalities and becoming very popular with young professional Spanish families. The age group is very varied with lots of young children and teenagers as well as working and retired adults.  We have most things you need for day to day living, eg doctors, dentists etc, library, sport venue, dog park dog beach (although you would need a car for the dog beach), shops, pubs, restaurants and so on, and of course we have beautiful Santa Pola town nearby.  Close to airport and Alicante or Elche if you are looking for private education.  Work will depend on what you can do and your level of Spanish, due to present Covid crisis the job situation is not good, however this is not limited to this area.  We did a lot of research before choosing Gran Alacant and have never regretted making this choice.  Hope this helps
