Can anyone tell me how easy it is to change bank account. We were with Bankia but since they’ve been taken over the service is dreadful. We cannot get a face to face appointment. They don’t want you in the bank at all. I would also be looking for recommendations. I hope not all banks are like this. We are in Guarda
Caxia now own Bankia.
I'm with Caxia and using their app I can normally get an appt. within 24 hours or at worst 48.
Beware of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!
Generally if you get to Caixa before 11 am you can queue, just remember to ask who is the last in the queue. We have also been able to make appointments on the app.

On the app I can only see appointments via telephone or face time. I want to go into the bank and talk to someone. How have you managed this?

I had the same problem with Bankia when Caixa took over, constant problems with the app and online banking. I went into the Sabadell branch one morning made an appointment for the next day and opened an account with them without any problem, as soon as I received my bank cards I went to Bankia at 9.30am joined the queue and closed my account there and then. I have not had any problems with Sabadell so far

Hi
There have been lots of posts/threads on this forum about banks. The common theme that comes out of them is that the new online banks are far better e.g. Wise or N26.
Why do you feel the need to see somebody face to face? Especially as there may be a language issue? I do accept that you may have a good reason, but I personally haven't been inside a bank in many years (aside from house purchase).
Cheers

Stevec2x I too was with Bankie. Since August I have been frozen out of my account with Caixa. I spent four days of my break in Spain in September trying to get access to my account through my debit card. When I arrived home I found that my account was blocked for online banking. I have literally spent days on the phone calling Caixa help line trying to sort it out, all to no avail. The last time I was told someone would phone me and sort it out but they couldn't tell me when. Now I dont know how much is in my account, whether my direct debits are being paid or even if my money is still in the account. That's why, particularly with Spanish banks you require a face to face meeting because they cannot hang up on you when things get difficult.

Thank you. Glad I’m not the only one

Hi
You don't need a Spanish bank, just a bank within the eurozone. As I said, try Wise.com
Cheers

Stevec2x. Steve I have an account with Wise but because I have no access to my caixa bank account I cannot close it, shift direct debits or retrieve my money. I don't know, because I have no access, but I'll bet a pound to a penny they are still charging me the monthly amount for the account. Emails sent to the customer services department are ignored. Telephone calls to their service department mysteriously hang up when they try to switch you to a more helpful person. Its a shambles. Incidently Steve I tried to access their online customer service help line, all went well until I was asked to enter my NIF number. I have no idea what that is. I assume it is like a Spanish passport number, so clearly being British I will not have one.
