Your VPN should not slow the connection to the extent you mention, or 500 to 50 Mbps. Contact your VPN provider and ask why this is happening.

Other option might be EPIC browser with built in proxy which should slow your connection less, but first try contacting your VPN team, with 500 Mbps you should be able to stream high quality even using VPN.

You could also try lowering RTEs video qualty slightly, if your streaming in HD try SD, basically the lesser the quality the less bandwidth required.

50mB is more than sufficient for any streaming.

What you said I understand and have done all you have done so.  I know i could contact my VPN provider but I was on a three year contract in 2016 for very low yearly fees.well the fees are the same i pay every year but on there site the annual is 4 times what i am paying. VPNS will always slow your speeds down, due to how they work and use encryption in both directions.

SMartDNS services tend to be faster, as they do not encrypt both ways.

But since most streaming services will work on 2 or 3 Mbps, with 15Mbps being suggested for 4k content on iPlayer, you are still easily within the required parameters

Kodi still works. The repositories you used to use may not, as more and more are being taken down each day.

IF you live in an apartment block, and want a dish, the first thing to do is to ask per permission to install a dish.

I’m in Punta prima, average internet speed is 5.7meg. I use vpn app on my firestick and watch it no problem in SD. Struggle in HD. My vpn is liberty shield and it’s their app.

Its still good to have a choice of 4000 channels, 5000 movies and endless box sets, all for less than 7€ per month.

Even though most of the time I’d rather read a book
