I am coming to stay in Guardamar with my two girls in a couple of weeks. Do I need to hire a car as I didn’t realise there was not really any public transport or is it an option just getting a taxi to Torrevieja and getting about from there?

Car hire is always a good option. There are buses from Guardamar into the big towns but pretty limited if you want to go anywhere else.

Hello

Depends where you want to go.    Guardamar has  a bus station where you can get buses to Torrevieja & Alicante in the opposite direction. There are several other buses that call in there to pick up or drop off ----- you can check inside the building where else buses travel to & if they have a regular timetable.

Cheers

I had read that the bus only comes 2 times a day but I’ll definitely check out the timetable when we get there. Thank you

It may help you when driving in Spain if you have a look at the N332 website, which is for English speaking people, as some things are quite different to those in the UK.   It is run in conjunction with officers of the Guardia Civil and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.

I’d be very wary using this website for as a source of information.

Most of the information on bars, restaurants, and even market location and opening hours is incredibly out of date.

As the bus timetables change of a regular basis, I’d be extreme surprised  if the bus information was accurate.

Hi

I think these links are more reliable...

https://costazul.net/lineas-urbanas/

You can search for timetables here https://regular.autobusing.com/info?empresa=costa-azul&locale=es

Cheers

Hiring a car is the best option but prices/ extra insurances are still high. I was let down by a local car hire company who cancelled on me when I was en route a couple of years ago and left me at the airport with no car. To my surprise it was quite easy to get from Alicante Airport to Guardamar. I got a bus from the airport to Torrevieja, the stand is just outside near the coffee place. I then got a bus from the Torrevieja bus station to the Guardamar bus station. It cost very little and the only hitch was having to buy the Guardamar ticket from the kiosk at the bus station before getting on the bus. I also use the Linea 2 very regularly to and from Eden and town. Except for the very busy times in July and August, it is very reliable.
