Hiring a car is the best option but prices/ extra insurances are still high. I was let down by a local car hire company who cancelled on me when I was en route a couple of years ago and left me at the airport with no car. To my surprise it was quite easy to get from Alicante Airport to Guardamar....

... I got a bus from the airport to Torrevieja, the stand is just outside near the coffee place. I then got a bus from the Torrevieja bus station to the Guardamar bus station. It cost very little and the only hitch was having to buy the Guardamar ticket from the kiosk at the bus station before getting on the bus. I also use the Linea 2 very regularly to and from Eden and town. Except for the very busy times in July and August, it is very reliable.

That’s great. Thank you

I had read that the bus only comes 2 times a day but I’ll definitely check out the timetable when we get there. Thank you

Hello JoM41, I wish to endorse the reply from Stevec2x as very helpful; but also to point out that there is a camping  / caravan park called 'Guardamar Park' next to Camping Rincon de Luna, address CV-920, 57, post code 03140. If this is the address that you are going to, their telephone number is 966 23 61 54 to check if they have a bus service into town because this site is about 3 km out in the countryside. Also, there is a small hamlet called Guardamar de la Safor, post code 46711 Valencia. I hope that this helps, Peter132

You can also get the shuttle bus from the airport to Alicante bus station . Where there is a regular bus service to Horadada that stops at Guardama

Hi, I've caught the bus between la mata and guardamar before, it is the one between torrevieja and Alicante airport as previously mentioned.

They were every hour in January, they were pretty full even off season though.

Currently they're about every 40 minutes, usually they increase the frequency in high season.

Avanza do have an app, it's pretty basic but may give you enough of an idea to decide re a car.

The other thing is, guardamar is a nice enough place that you may not need to go out of town, and it's small enough that once you're there, you can get about on foot if you're relatively fit. Depends what type of holiday you like!

That’s what I’m hoping. Just sometimes teenagers get a bit bored.

There's a regular bus every day from Alicante airport to Torrevieja.

Here's the timetable and the cost

Airport Bus

You could go to Alicante for the train but you'd be waiting a long time as Torrevieja doesn't have a train station, or trains come to that.

Big thanks is it the same to Calpe?

No, just to Torrevieja. There are normal buses to Alicante and you can get a bus or a tram to Calpe. Tram takes longer but more scenic.

Or shuttle bus to Benidorm and then the tram. Just a bus from Torrevieja to Alicante, though.
