Wanted: Mattress

I  recently purchased a  Complete  Bed  and Mattress  in a  small Family  owned  store.  It   delivered  within  6 hours  as  they said  they  would. Why  not give them a Call  they speak  perfect English. They  are  based in Altos de Limonar   beside  the Habernasa  Shopping centre.

We wanted to replace a double bed with a single bed and tried a few Torrevieja shops, but none offered a mattress removal service. Two of them said just ring the council and they will arrange to come and collect free. The shop we used, gave us the telephone number for the mattress collection. My wife rang six times over a period of days and got an answering machine every time. She left 3 messages in Spanish, but they never bothered to return her calls. No wonder people dump their mattresses by the skip. 

In the end, we managed to nab a dumpster diver and he took the bed as it was in very good condition. So based on our experience, I would personally be inclined to go for a shop that offers a mattress disposal service, rather than a telephone number to call.

In Guardamar most people put unwanted furniture items mattresses by the side of the bins. There are various vans driving around who will pick them up. There is also a lorry from the council who pick up from the bins & take away. You don't have to phone anyone. 

Jaime on the high street sells furniture & mattresses have a look they may take old stuff away as well. 

Dear Mac 7, I think that all the mattress suppliers in Guardamar that I have done business with during 19 years living here have taken an old mattress as part of the transaction. Talk to them about the disposal of your old mattress before you shake-hands on the purchase of the new one. The delivery of old mattresses to the Eco-Centre located behind the bus station happens nearly every day from Emelio, Terra Confort, Galeria Jaime etc. These Spanish shops have some staff that speak English. Also, Beaudicillos is observing common practice here - but if you look at the posters of "Whats on in Guardamar" at the bottom is usually information of where & when the collection of unwanted large furniture takes place.
