I’m in the process of selling my property in the UK to fund my new life in Spain.   I’m looking to rent to begin with.  Due to COVID & Brexit I have not visited in the last year.

I know that due to Brexit I need to apply for a visa ( non working) as I am  retiring.

What do I apply for 1st?

Banking, how long do I have to have an account to apply?

I also need to show proof of tenancy to apply for residency, how can I do this if I’m only allowed to stay 90 days?

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to apply from the UK

Use the menu to check the Tips and Guides section for more information.

Thank you

No problem. Its a bit of a change to say the least! You can still have a holiday though, nose around. You can even do your NIE if you wanted to although I believe they issue one automatically with a successful NLV application.

You could also open a bank account while on holiday, but bear in mind you might have to move your branch if you end up buying in a different place.

Use the guides, ask questions and tick off the things to do one by one and it's not so daunting. Good luck 👍

Hello Linda.

As other posters have said, you need to start the process by applying to the Spanish Embassy in UK for a Non Lucrative Visa - if you intend to retire & not work

Here is a link for you to read that should answer most of your questions
