Hello everybody

Just wondered if Guardamar would be good holiday destination for elderly (hate that word) lady, without transport. Dont do much at night, but would walk, shop, have coffee during the days. Hoping to find a very reasonable let for 3/4 weeks, probably early March.  Non smoker.

Thanks so much

Hi Annie

Guardamar is quite flat so it's ideal for walking. It has a large market on Wednesday near the bus station at the back of town.

There are 2 large supermarkets many mas at the port end of town, merca dona in the busy part of town. There are quite a few cafes bars etc.

So yes! Try Guardamar, I did & now I live here. :)

I would also recommend Guardamar to you. In addition to the previous reply you can also travel from Guardamar bus station to many destinations up and down the coast at a very reasonable cost. There are numerous lovely Spanish bars and 3 lovely and very welcoming English speaking bars. People are very friendly. Good luck and best wishes.

Dear Kathleen A

Again, thank you so much for your input.  I think I will now seriously look for accommodation.  Our weather has been so bleak of late that I'm longing for sunshine.

Best wishes

I'm sure you won't regret it Annie. There isn't a huge expat community in Guardamar but it's very friendly. The English speaking bars are Platform One , The Shamrock and Hoops Bar 2022 (which opens on 19/2). They will make you welcome and have quiz nights etc. 😍😍

Hello again and many thanks. I'm now going to look for a pleasant little flat, central to everything, as I won't have transport.

Many thanks Kathleen.

Hi. I'm also looking for a flat in Guardamar. I was just wondering what is the best transport form airport (Alicante) to Guardamar. Are there any buses or only car renting?
