Hi all, Family are visiting us in June. I'm concerned about their need for a Carta De Invatacion. Can anyone advise me (1)Whether or not I need to obtain one. (2)Has anyone had experience of needing one? (3) Has anyone had experience of being refused entry or fined for not having one?

Cheers.

No. Been asked many times especially when Brit newspapers come out with this. It has been quoted by Spanish officials and the UK ambassador to Spain that it is not needed for those who come to Spain visa free.

In short, if you don't need a visa to enter Spain you don't need a carta de invitacion.

As long as they have return flights it should be no problem, but none of my family have been stopped as yet.

That's really reassuring, thank you very much.
