I can't seem to find (as in UK), insurance that covers if your apartment needs re-building.  Do that do that here, or just contents and damage?

+  Is there an equivalent yell.com?

+  Is there a job website (like total jobs or indeed) ?

+  Where can I source a list of emergency numbers like Police, Fire Dept, etc

I am moving at the end of this month, or start of August.

Many many thanks

Helen

Just ask any broker. Our policy with Liberty Seguros covers more than the full value of the property.

Yellow pages is:

The Spanish equivalent of 999 is 112.

I've no idea about jobs websites, but don't count on finding a job - the employment situation here is dire.

Thanks Helen, but it was pure chance I responded quickly. I'd just come in from my workshop for a cool down and a drink, and decided to look at the forum. And if I hadn't replied then there are plenty of others who would have.

Good luck on the move.

Once you're here you'll have 'fun' with the bureaucracy involved. If you fancy a bit of light reading I'm sure there will be something here to interest you:

Hi Helen,

Home insurance in Spain is usually combined, so you have Buildings and Contents cover under the same policy.  It's worth noting that the value you decide for your Contents cover should include the price of your kitchen - in Spain, these are covered under Contents, rather than Buildings cover.

Regarding the emergency number, the European equivalent for the UK's 999, is 112 - if you don't speak Spanish, you can ask for an English speaker.

Kind regards,

Kim

We use a UK company called Intasure which provides all the cover you would need just as in the UK.

Jim,

Amazing Guide - I can't begin to tell you how helpful it is for me to read about the Residency Agreement.  I know there will be lots more areas I can gain assistance from also, so Thank You.  I'd have paid to receive that!

You can still pay, Helen - all contributions kindly received - will that be in cash or in kind?!

Seriously, it's feedback like that which keeps me posting.
