The only expense I can forsee is if neither of you are conversant in Spanish you may have to engage an interpreter for your residency interviews with the National Police.

You will also need to arrange two residency interviews one for you and another for your husband. You cannot be interviewed together, however, you should be able to sit in on each others interview. ...

...

You will also need an appointment each for the Padron.

Thank you John and good job you explained that! Yes we will definitely have to engage an interpreter. As much as I try I don't think I'll ever be able to speak Spanish fluently!

Just beware that Guardamar are strict when it comes to enrolling on the padron, you will need to explain to them the reason why   ie to obtain residency. As well as the documents detailed by Marcliff, Guardamar will also ask for a copy of a recent utility  bill. But don’t rush off there too soon, wait until you’ve got the ball rolling and have your residency appointment date. When you show your padron at the residency appointment is has to be dated within the last three months. Not sure how long it’s taking for appointments at the moment , but it make sense to hold back on the padron to save you repeating the process twice. Office is open mornings only.

As mentioned by others you need to show your healthcare documents  at your residency appointment, your S1 form (each) will be sufficient as you can’t register the S1 until you have your residencia. That’s another reason for not rushing to go on the padron as to register your S1 your padron also needs to be dated within the last three months.

Thank you Lynn, very helpful and very important points to remember. When enrolling on the padron at Guradamar Town Hall, can we just walk in or do we need to make an appointment (and if so how do we do this please?).

No appointment needed, just walk in - the people on reception speak a little English, but will usually direct you to an English speaking member of staff.
