I have a large piece of land that I want to utilise with some animals. There will be a stable and plenty of shelter.

4 chickens, maybe 1 or 2 sheep, maybe 1 or 2 donkeys.

The chickens I will own, but wondered whether you can loan sheep/donkeys to keep the land tidy and do I need a licence ?

I can't envisage a problem if you're in a rural area. Many of the places local to me have goats, ducks, donkeys etc on the property - that's just part of rural life in Spain.

That's assuming that money isn't going to be changing hands. If you were to start charging, then you would need to take steps like registering for IVA etc.

Thankyou, I was informed that to be kept "as pets" then NO licence, but was then told I needed a number from town hall.

I'm a but puzzled by that, and can only think your land must be classed as urban rather than rural. Play safe and ask your town hall.

No, I'm on Rustic land.

I know the chickens are fine, it's must the sheep and donkey that I was concerned about. I have friends who have a small holding, they have lots of animals (all rescues) and they say as long as they are just for pets, no licence required.

I will ask at the town hall, to be on the safe side. I don't want a fine or the animals taken away......
