Sadly I'm going to have to remove  myself from this thread (my inbox can't cope with it).....which means I'll miss any input on 'Residency' which is what I want to hear about.  Please all, open a new thread to government bash  :(

When British travellers get trapped in far away countries by circumstances that are unprecedented like this pandemic, like the tsunami in Thailand And  Indonesia, like the Icelandic volcano eruption, like the civil war in Sierra Leone - were British nationals get trapped it is up to the Foreign office to rescue its citizens by ALL means necessary Terrybyme11 - otherwise your sacred soon to be blue passport won't even be useful to you after a dodgy vindaloo at the Star of Bengal after 15 pints. Make any sense ? 😯😮😉

400k brits are stranded abroad still- India, Nepal, South Africa, New Zealand,  Argentina, and on and on.....😡  Canada have sent 6 flights to repatriate 15k of its stranded nationals. France is rescuing 130k French nationals. Ursula von Der Leyen said the EU executive arm was organising flights to repatriate 100k EU citizens stuck abroad ( France 24 Reuters). Many from Morocco and Tunisia already home bound (March 20!)

As for the elderly - no I don't expect 100k care workers on standby. Most have gone back to Europe or the Philippines because they are treated like dirt and have no concrete guarantees of security in UK.  After all would you trust Bojo when his own family can't trust him, or his ex wife or his mistresses or the house of commons expenses committee, the London  Assembly or the ex-prime Minster Michael Howard and the chief editor of the Times who both sacked him for LYING period.

This government has practically destroyed the social care system and mental health services in the UK period ! Elderly people having to sell there homes or get ripped off by private equity firms because they need basic care having paid tax and national insurance for 6 decades plus 😠  Community nursing is virtually non existent in many counties in the UK.  Care homes at breaking point !! What part of meltdown don't you understand senor ? 

This government can't even give the pensioners a free TV license !!! This government has deliberately sabotaged the NHS and social care services to introduce private healthcare by the backdoor and those lucky few have bought into it hook, line and sinker. Who wants to sit in A and E for 12 hours ? Or wait for months for cancer operations  

Jeez there is so much that could be done - but hey the politicians need to feed at the trough and the complicit turn a blind 😢😡
