You will also need to obtain a ‘residencia’ for which you will require what I believe is Form S1 from the DHSS office in Newcastle which deals with residents abroad/moving abroad. If you are legally resident here, your EHIC won’t get you very far as I understand it; the function of the EHIC is basically cover for tourists or short stays. Once you have acquired residency, you will then need an appointment at the Ministry of Social Security in Denia - and you cannot just turn up without an appointment - with all the relevant documentation for them to issue your SIPS card (healthcare). To start with, you need to register on the Padron at the Town Hall/make appt at the Police Office in Denia which sorts out residency, for which you will need a lot of paperwork and photocopies/then appointment at Min of SS with more paperwork, including proof of residency, and more photocopies to obtain rights to healthcare.
In the first place, before you attempt to embark on any of this, you MUST obtain the documentation from Newcastle. You may find it easier to ask your solicitor to make the appointments at the relevant offices for you, as their online booking form is extremely complex and the phone system just as difficult, unless, of course, you are fluent in Spanish.
