Hello everybody, I have just joined the Forum and appears I am not the only one with plans to come to Javea.  I lived there as a child and returned last year for the first time in 44 years!  A little different!  But still amazing.... I even found where I used to snorkel with my father!  Also the farmhouse where we lived... It was just brilliant to be back there...  And the huge supermarket was .... to die for!  I brought back the shopping bags and am still using them!

Like many I seem to be looking for advice on renting somewhere to live and work... I also planned to bring my two cats but have already learnt flying them is not a good idea.. long drive... never mind... other peoples thoughts/experiences on this?

If anyone is planning to rent their property please do contact me and I am an amazing PA/Secretary/General Organiser and a qualified Legal Secretary.. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.  Brushing up on my Spanish at the moment!  Rather rusty :-(

I have already found so much useful information although was very sad to hear the lady who started this Forum has passed away.

An absolute pleasure to meet everyone!

Take care T

Best way of transporting your two cats is with a professional company of animal couriers. They will be licensed and comply with animal welfare requirements. It’s how we brought our two and it was so much easier; we didn’t have to worry about them with all the other stress and they were delivered to a cattery here to await our collection. Also useful as we suddenly faced a two week delay with our property after we arrived and could not have dealt with the animals under these circumstances. Would certainly do this again if the need arose.

Many thanks for your reply Stephanie.  It certainly isn't as simple as I thought and appreciate your comments.  First stop is their health as they are both older cats.  So much to sort out and think about.  Many thanks again.  T

Our two were both 12 when transported, no problems. Don’t forget you will need Pet Passports for them,anti-rabies etc, your local vet will need to certify this and provide the paperwork. Overall, it was worth the reasonable total cost of it all for peace of mind.

May I ask what your cost was.  I had a quote around £1400 for the two?  Many thanks

Approx 180 vaccination and passports plus 450ish for transportation plus cattery fees

Well that is very interesting!  Per cat or for both?  Pleased to report that the sun is shining here in Wiltshire today!  Bad news is rain back later...... But the cats are outside lying in the sun at the moment.

This was for both of them - it was around 3 or 4 years ago, so obviously a bit dearer now. It was overland transport, not air freight. We used Animalcouriers.com, who are based in Sussex, which wasn’t very far from where we used to live.

We took the cats down to an adjacent cattery to the courier’s offices, a few days before as we wanted them out of the house when we had removers there, for the obvious reason, and it meant we didn’t have to worry about them at all. As stated earlier, the couriers then delivered them to a cattery in the area where we were going to live, (they had a long-standing arrangement with the cattery, so we weren’t worried at all) and we visited the place when we arrived, to ensure they were OK. We then left the cats there for the two or three weeks required for our purchase completion etc.

Very high winds here for the past few days, all 3 cats (unfortunately had to have one of the ‘English’ cats put to sleep earlier last year, now have two more rescued ferals!) looking gloomily outside and hiding in our bedroom! One sleeps under the bed and the other two think 5.30 am is the correct time to come and see me!

Thank you so much!  I have spoken to them and the lady was so helpful.... Just waiting on a quote now but we have a date for me to work to, which is brilliant!

Sun still just shining here... cats given up and back indoors now!  That is so funny waking you up!  Would we be without them though - I think now!

Now to call about getting my car out there!

Take care and look forward to catching up soon xx
