Hi,    Could someone please help with what the procedure/paperwork is for us to drive a van across, either by ferry or through France loaded with personal items.   Everything is ours for our holiday home, such as some furniture, wall pictures, garden statue etc but we are not residents and a couple of items are new.

Do we have to fill in exporting paperwork or fill in forms?   Ive read that people do this but they are moving over to Spain permanently, which we aren't.  What can we expect at Customs?

Any info is welcome, many thanks

Cheryl

Moving personal goods to Spain for a holiday

This is an old link on this subject so it would be really helpful if anyone has more recent experiences.

Hi Sandra

I was one of the posters on the earlier thread on this subject and as you can read there's no official process for moving personal goods as a non resident and very much luck of the draw. We travelled in August with a car full of stuff with lists in English and Spanish with fair 2nd hand values to total under €800. We were stopped, customs officer only asked if we had an animal and answering no, he then waved us on. Yes paperwork not looked at but I still felt it was a worthwhile task. We returned end of November 1 day before storm Arwen and then lost our 3 fences, and later storm took our rented out house fences too. Insurances don't cover storm damage to fences and its cost us nearly £2k to replace. Hence we haven't booked a ferry crossing with van yet. In fact we are now considering flying for next visit shortly as ferry prices have rocketed and may take van later in the year. We are still unsure regarding customs process but I would still do lists and leave it to luck. It will be whatever it is on the day and considering who you get. Ii do have a Brit Ferry code to get you a discount if you want it.

Regards

Pauline
