We will have to isolate in UK and have Tests on day 2and 8, do we have to show the kits at passport control?

Hi Coletea,

No, you pre-book the tests before you leave Spain and the purchase reference code supplied by the test provider has to be added to your Passenger Locator Form before you fly.  This link to the relevant section on Gov.UK should help:

https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

Kind regards,

Kim

The free test kits are not eligible for travel. You have to show your results via an email sent to you by the private company that you have paid. They will also send you a code that you will need.

Hi

We fly back tomorrow and have pre-booked with a company called Tests For All who were vey reasonably priced.

When you click on them on the government list you select the date you are flying and they will ship the tests on that day on an overnight tracked service.  Inside the pack will be information on your nearest designated post boxes for returning.

They are a not for profit service and the set up seems very efficient. Here’s hoping they do what it says on the tin!

As they are reasonably priced the availability of the dates get booked up quickly so have a look sooner rather than later.

They did say that a video call was required of the test being opened and carried out but when I looked at booking this yesterday there is now a notice saying that government advice changes mean this is no longer necessary but they are still carrying out call appointments should anyone wish to have the assistance when carrying out their tests.

Good luck

Sharon

Thanks Sharon - and there was a purchase reference code that you had to add to your Pasenger Locator Form before checking in at the Spanish airport?

Kind regards,

Kim

How quickly do these tests get turned around? I was thinking I might book a 5 day test to reduce quarantine but if they don't provide a result next day at the latest there seems little point.

We chose not to get the 5 day test. It's all a money spinner. We got our 2 day results back quite quickly but we didn't get our 8 day results back at all. We just left quarantine at the end of 10 days. It seemed like once they have got your money no one bothers.

It is all a money spinner. Some posters saying the tests either dont turn up, or as you said dont get results back. The 5 day test is a RIP off..why cant you take the 8 day test early for your 5 day test instead of having to buy another..

I have just returned from the U.K. I used assuredscreening for my prepaid tests and had excellent service from them and received my day 2 test result on day 4 and day 5 on day 9 that included the bank holiday. I also received a call every day up and including day 10 from the Government quarantine team to check I was indeed quarantining.

So technically the day 5 test is a waste of money. If you received the result on day 9 then you only have 1 more day to quarantine.
