And if this is correct please let me know how to go about doing it

Thanks for that I will try and see but according to google there is a 4% tax based on book value of the car and a lot of leg work to follow

Book values on which tax is based are all here:

https://www.boe.es/buscar/doc.php?id=BOE-A-2017-15284

The Tráfico fee is €54.60:

https://sede.dgt.gob.es/Galerias/tramites-y-multas/tu-coche/cambio-titularidad/01/01-Cambio-titularidad-vehiculo_EN.pdf

and the application form is:

https://sede.dgt.gob.es/Galerias/tramites-y-multas/modelos-solicitud/02/Mod.02-ES.pdf

I recommend that you use Agencia Tributaria and DGT in Elche - easier to park and much more civilised than Alicante.

Jim

Thanks for the detailed info

Am I right to assume the total cost of transfer as specified is around €55? Or are there any other costs as the seller has offered to do the transfer at a cost of €600!!

As he claims there is a 4% tax on the book value of the car also

Can you please advise

Cheers

As Pete said originally, there are two elements - the Tráfico fee, which is fixed; and the 4% transfer tax (impuesto sobre transmisiones patrimoniales y actos jurídicos documentados/ITP) which depends on the book value. The first is paid to Tráfico and the second to Agenica Tributaria, but make sure you pay the fee and get the receipt before going to Tráfico.

The cost of a gestor to change ownership is 150 Euros, I have not found cheaper.  You pay the money and they do all the paperwork and legwork.  No big deal.

If you want more info then contact me.  My Gestor is in Crevillent.

Kind regards / Richard
