Is this just for transfer and on top of that there is the 4% book value tax which is paid separately?

No, everything is included. I have done this many times for Spanish cars needing transfer of ownership. Don´t get confused with the armchair experts

Is that an intentional or unintended insult?
€150 may well be less than the ITP, without even taking into account the transfer fee.
I've been to Hacienda and Tráfico for a car transfer, so I do know what I'm talking about.

Dear Richard
The owner had agreed to take me to witness everything he pays out that includes the 4% book value tax and I even checked with google and there is also mentioned the requirement for the 4% tax so I have no idea how you can avoid paying this legal tax

alavib - I'd be grateful if you'd post re how you get on in doing the transfer. Richard is totally wrong but just won't admit it.
TIA
Dear Jim
I, like you bielive that the owner is correct as he will arrange for me to be present in every step of the transfer and what payments are made
So I think he is not far off from what he says will be the total cost of the transfer
However I just cannot Bielive just a simple transfer of a second car is such a costly and long process
But then again we have 300 days a year sunshine !!!

Spain's a lovely country, but they do love their bureaucracy. Why use one piece of paper when you can use three, seems to be the attitude.
For information, when we bought Margaret's car for €5000, I didn't know how to find the official book value, but the transfer tax was €299.
You're fortunate that you have someone to take you through the process. If he/she hasn't been there, suggest that you go to Elche - it's a much nicer experience than going to Alicante.
Good luck on the day.
cheers
Jim
Thanks Jim
Apparently the owner has a friend who specializes in this kind of transfers and accordingly this friend has done it many times before so I guess he probably knows one or two things about second hand car ownership transfer when the vehicle is bought from a private individual and not a dealer
The only unfortunate thing is the traffico place in Alicante is a chucker till Nov 12 so we need to wait
But I will keep you updated once it’s all done and dusted
Cheers
