A lot of people on this forum seem to be running about like headless chickens over the virus and it is no different in the UK.

Up to now not many people have the virus in the UK or the number of deaths is not comparable to the self inflicted deaths caused by humans to one another, here are some facts for you all to chew over, especially those who are overly attached to your tin boxes, these are UK government statistics from june 2019 to 2019,

Road deaths                       1870

Child pedestrians killed      1900

Killed seriously injured     27,820 this figure includes the 2 above

Slightly injured               157,630

Total figures for the 12 months  157,630

Also regarding deaths due to the flu on average each year 17,000 people die in the UK alone. Add these figures together and the total for any given year is 20,770 deceased persons.

I do find it a total contradiction that most people seem very happy to accept and feel comfortable with so many of the above deaths because it is so common but all the hysteria over the corona virus seems so out of context that I doubt if their will be anything like the amount of deaths due to this virus as those caused by road deaths etc.

just to correct you, I was told in no uncertain terms by a legal person that there is no such meaning as road "accidents", they are road incidents, meaning that the majority of these incidents should never have happened and are completely avoidable if only humans control their overtly aggressive bad driving habits and should be personally held responsible for their actions, as all drivers are supposed to be in control at all times of their vehicles so claiming that some other entity is responsible for their poor driving is a common misconception.

Your argument is based on statistics that don’t have any relevance to the issue at hand. The people in ICU on ventilators for weeks on end don’t care about how many people die in road traffic accidents. You might have a new perspective if you are more directly impacted by it. Let’s hope you’re not.

The OP is a dangerous fool who has clearly failed to grasp the gravity of the situation and the reasons behind self isolation.

It goes without saying that I don't wish it on anyone (well Trump and Cummings excepted maybe!) but as James1212 says perhaps when he or one of his loves ones falls victim and dies because the NHS has totally collapsed and been forced into operating on a triage footing he'll see the folly in his thinking.

...’re not.

Regarding statistics: (I agree regarding the irrelevance) particularly in this scenario.

Let´s say, (hypothetically)  road traffic accidents, are caused by 2 out of 10, by drunken drivers. Therefore 8 out of 10 caused by sober ones. No one would use that either as statistical indication of safe driving.

Thank you for sharing, I am glad it gives you comfort and I am sure it will give comfort to others too.

BUT seriously  look at what is happening in ITALY and do a reality check.

Covid-19 needs to be taken seriously and those that don't do that are putting others peoples lives at risk. This cannot be compared with anything else not even traffic accidents.  This is un chartered territory and has not happened on this kind of global scale within our lifetimes.

I am proud to say Spain are doing everything in their power to keep us safe. I have family in the UK and would love to see more rigorous safely measures put in place otherwise we will all lose loved ones in the coming months.

Sorry, but most of us are not running around anywhere, headless or not, and are being totally sensible about this.

You strike me as someone who enjoys facts and figures.  You have gone to great lengths to provide lots of statistics about life / death in normal circumstances of everyday life.  All very tragic and true.

Now, I ask you to put your mind to doing some research.  Begin with China, look at Italy, continue on to Spain and then if you are interested The UK.  Read about how this virus works, each infected person will pass this infection onto 2.5 people. Then those 2.5 people will pass it onto other people and within 2 weeks, you will have a massive number of infected people. Some will eat better and some will die a horrible death.

So, we just continue on passing the infection and before long almost everyone will have the virus. Young and old will be put into bodybags and prepared for cremation. There will not be any loved ones attending this final act, no music, no words of comfort, NOTHING. That will be you and me and everyone else reading this.  Life will be over....finished...no more...The End.

Here is what we ALL must do.    Hide,  no interaction with anyone.  Let the virus die out.  If the virus isn’t coughed and spluttered over others, then it can’t survive.  If the virus can’t survive.....we are safe....finally we can come out of hiding.

This will have to be the same in every country. We must kill this KILLER ourselves. People are terrified of getting Coronavirus.  Remember, the quicker people start to treat this virus seriously, the sooner we can end it and get our lives back to normal...sooner rather than later.

My advice to anyone on this forum who share doubt about this virus and compares it to the horrors of everyday life such as car crashes....please stop.    Listen to what the    People in Italy are telling us day and daily, hide, stay away from people, stop the virus from killing our loved ones and us.

Face reality, we are at war and we must fight back. The only ammunition we have is the knowledge that we can fight it and win by staying away from others until told otherwise.

Please accept what I have tried to say to you. All your statistics are probably accurate but you forgot to add another few thousand onto your final numbers for the likely deaths as a result of the new killer on the block.

please take care....all of you.
