We have brought two miniature Roses, in pots, from the UK. How will they fare in a La Marina garden?

Also. what is the lovely fast growing purple/pink screening plant we see everywhere?

It's Bougainvillea, I think, available at all garden centres here. For the roses, like many other pot plants, you have to make sure they don't bake in the sun and will need multiple daily waterings and would prefer some shade especially during the hottest part of the day.

Don't even think of Bouganvilea as lovely  as it looks - It grows rampant and is hard to maintain. It has long prickles too.

I wish we had had this advice in the beginning as it ended up too heavy for our large gate arch and on a windy day the whole thing collapsed.

There are plenty of other more delicate screening plants , some are very pretty too.

I wondered why our neighbours didn't have bougainvillea but soon found out. Lots of them had tried it and gave up as well. The trunk in the ground is not easy to remove either.

When driving down the main strip(Londres). On the left hand side opposite the houses with the round towers, you will see a Bouganvilea. I saw it being trimmed about 4 months ago. If you have a look now, you will know what Jan means about growing rampant!
