Hi dose anyone know of a good product to seal the roof terrace of my house, since the rain last year I have had problems with damp coming through my tiled roof terrace. If anyone can help me it's much appreciated regards Dave

Dave.

Go to your local ferretera (excuse spelling) there is a grey product which you paint on ,but you have to find where the leak is.

If I  were you I would just dress up the interior damage .This Gota Fria only will happen again in 40 years time it was bad (save the expenses)

Firstly make sure that all your drains are clear. Remove any debris and flush with a couple of buckets of water. Use water hose on different areas and try to identify where the water is getting in. Usually cracks, low spots where water puddles  etc.

Hi , is it the grey rubber paint you are recommending which you put under the tiles as a waterproof membrane? Is there a product like "Thompsons water seal that can waterproof and seal tiny cracks in grouting to save regrouting again(not where grouting is missing of course) but more like a waterproof seal on a good condition tiled solarium.?

Regards

Pauline.

Yup there is! What you want is an impermeabilizante. Every paint shop should have a selection of various types, and you want one that is a clear liquid, usually acrylic or silicone.

If you've any mortar joints around the roof, give them a couple of soakings of the sealer, as Spanish sand is so coarse that water easily penetrates mortar or concrete.

If you've got water stains inside the house, make sure they're dry and apply a spirit based paint to seal them, as water stains can bleed through emulsion paint. I just use white undercoat for this purpose.

Thanks for info Jim, you are right mortar is very porous, my wall cladding outside is in a very bad state, needs redoing, the joints are crumbling away and some of stone dropped off. As solarium has been redone, want to protect it so it retains its waterproofing.

Regards

Pauline.
