Morning

we were planing on coming over on 29th Sept flying to Alicante. I have herd that the Spanish airport staff will be striking on this day. Does anyone know if this is true and who is actually striking? I am thinking about getting the late flight. on 28th instead but that lands at 12.05 am so will that also be effected.Gutted as I have now organised the time off work for a long weekend and can't change it but don't want to sit in an airport all weekend.

Thanks

Hi Samwhu,

It appears to be more scaremongering by the British press:

https://www.theolivepress.es/spain-news/2022/08/23/explainer-why-airport-workers-in-spain-are-not-going-on-strike-for-25-days/

In case the link takes you to a paywall, the salient points from the report are:

"There’s one massive problem: the news is five years out of date and refers to an August 2017 union announcement about 25 days of strikes between September and December that year.

"There is no nationwide strike planned for Spanish airports operated by Aena and nothing in the pipeline.

"A press officer for the USO union told the Olive Press: “There are no strikes organised for Aena’s workers and people should not believe this information as it can create confusion for travellers”."

Enjoy your hols! 🙂

Kind regards,

Kim

None of the strikes throughout the summer have affected international flights. The only flights affected were internal Spanish flights.
