Hi,

I thought I would raise a post regarding the new proposed 'Digital Nomad Visa'.  I know that Spain are still in its infancy with this visa but I would be grateful for any future updates if anyone else is keeping an eye on this.

I am hoping it is going to be a simple, easy and online application process that they introduce.

Thanks Ian

Looks extremely complicated, can’t see a long queue of people waiting to apply

The areas where you have to live are t exactly tourist traps.

I would like to share some information I have found recently from solicitors.  The amount you need to have in savings if you are a non European citizen is over £27,500 (looking at this from a retired citizen looking to buy a property).  . You need to have this amount in the bank for a min of three months. If you have a dual passport ie UK and European passport, you will need a min of 7K euros for a min of 3 months.  You will also need to prove that you have adequate health insurance.  There are certain conditions that are not accepted by the Spanish authority (I haven't investigated this yet).  This is the very basic amounts and a lot of documents etc need to be translated and shown.  It has been very difficult to get this information.  Please feel free to add further information.

Thanks in advance

I think the amount you have quoted is what’s needed when applying for residency in Spain. For anybody who is non-resident, they can still buy a house and do not need to have any vast sum of money held in their account for a minimum of 3 months….

Didn’t think you could hold both a British passport and a Spanish passport?

It seems unfortunately that the Spanish government are not keen on having people buying property unless they have means to provide adequate funding. I made it very clear to solicitors in Uk that we were only thinking of buying a property for holiday home. These were the figures we were told would be needed. I’m more than happy for anyone to tell me differently!
