Hi Kym,
Firstly you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK. You will need to meet the annual income and healthcare requirements.
The income for a couple will be around €32,000 per annum. You will both need to have full private healthcare paid for a full year.
There will be a couple of other documents to submit but easily done such as marriage certificate translated into Spanish and a police background check.
If you are retired you can apply for the non lucrative visa. If you become full residents of Spain and you are receiving a UK pension you can apply for healthcare paid by the UK government under the S1 healthcare scheme.
