I am currently buying a property in La Zenia and need a Spanish account. Can anyone recommend a good Spanish bank?

Many thanks

Sarah

In my experience, and that of most users of this forum, there is, sadly, no such thing.

I  recently purchased a property in  Torrevieja  but  did  not open  a Spanish bank account  as they are  very  expensive  to  maintain.

I  arrange  with  my  Solicitors  that I  would  make  a  few lodgement  to   Solicitors  Client  holding  account  and on day of Completion  he draw down funds  from  Solicitors  Holdings  account.

I would  look  into  opening  a Wise  Bank account  for Standing orders  for Water  and Electricity  and other  utilities  bills

Best 👌  of  luck  with  your  property  purchase 😀 👍 🙌

As mentioned above a lot of people use a Wise online account which just takes a few minutes to set up, there are no monthly charges unlike a Spanish bank account which carries quarterly fees which can be anything up to 80€ per quarter. It can be used for transferring money or paying bills and it seems to be widely accepted by utility companies etc. for paying standing orders
