Having trouble finding an accountant (gestor) that does both Spanish and UK tax returns. Does anyone know of any in the local area?

A "gestor" is not necessarily an accountant.

A person might be both, but recommend you search for a "contable".

Cheers, J

Yes, I was trying to keep it simple as I'm after a gestor for both Spanish and UK tax returns. A contable is more for accountancy, not what I'm after. Thanks anyway.

Tried that. I'm after someone who does English Tax as well as Spanish. I've asked the question because I can't find one locally. Thanks anyway.

This isn't going to answer your question directly, but in my experience it might be best to de-couple the two as you will pay more for a firm/person who is able to provide the whole service as opposed to the provision of one or the other.

I say this as a (retired) chartered accountant and while I now have someone in Spain who does my returns (I used to do my own but now can't be bothered in my later years!) but having not opted out of the UK tax system, I continue to provide a self assessment return to them.

Assuming you're resident in Spain, that is the key country to get your taxes right in IMO. Depending on the complexity of your UK tax affairs, you could probably either DIY via SA or employ someone who is recommended to you back in the UK and simply feed those details back to your Spanish accountant.

Hi, Sorry, I misunderstood. I use my local asesoría here for Spanish taxation advice in Spain. Although the company deal with many UK & other immigrants for tax purposes here, they don´t deal with other government´s tax implications. Perhaps a company local to you could advise one which does.

Yes, that's what I was after, someone local here. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I have two government pensions which as you know, take tax from me at source even though I'm taxed in Spain as a resident, plus I have a house that I've recently sold. My most urgent need is someone to do the Capital Gains Tax for me. It looks like I'll have to get a UK accountant to sort it for me.
