Has anyone used their wise account to actually purchase a property in Spain….I am looking at setting up an account with wise in the hope to pay monthly bills but wondering if anyone used it to purchase a property…all advice appreciated.

I would check that WISE has can offer EU compensation. I'm not sure if WISE are actually a bank. They never used to be but may have got a banking licence recently.

As above, if you can get your solicitor to store your funds in their client account this will save you quite a bit of money on bank drafts. However, not all solicitors will do this, I suspect that it cost them money.

I   am  not aware  of  any additional charges   for  using  Solicitors  accounts  as it was  one  of  my queries  when I  first  got  in  contact with  Solicitors  about Property purchase

Hi

Wise does not have a banking license, but I'm not sure if this is relevant if you only use them to transfer money from bank a to bank b.

Cheers

Hi yes. We bought a house and transferred the funds to our Wise Euro account when we were happy with the rate. Our Solicitor set up the direct debits on our Wise account.  We then sold an appartment and the funds transferred to our Wise Euro account. We left it there a few weeks until the euro rate dropped and thrn transferred it out. No problems at all

We did use Wise to pay for a property at the notary office. The Wise transfers were free and saved us thousands of euros! We "chopped up" the amount in smaller transfers (<100.000 €) to assure instant payment and all worked well. The seller received the payment within minutes. The only exception was the seller's mortgage, that had to be paid of by Spanish bank check. P.s. double check the latest wise threshhold for instant transfer beforehand.
