I think this has gotten blown way out of proportion. I read a headline in the UK news today which stated that Boris Johnson was thinking about banning the showing of football matches in pubs. Like what the heck is that going to do accept from putting the remaining pubs out of business? The industry has already been battered by high costs and fallout due to the smoking ban.

And not to sit here and deny that something is happening, but, does anyone have first or second hand experience of this virus? I go out every single day and have not seen anyone with any symptoms what so ever, even a runny nose. For a winter time, that in itself is more strange.

And has anyone seen the pictures being circulated around the internet of the 1981 'Dean Koontze' book, called the 'eyes of darkness' which predicts this very scenario down to the T. Even the year (2020) and the town (wuhan) where it originates!

Or what about the 2017 Asterixt comic which features a charioteer called CORONOVIUS, who happens to wear a mask?

There are other examples, but based on those two alone, i question the official narrative as truth, and if this virus situation is real (which i do not doubt there is a virus but remain sceptical as to certain things reported in the media), then someone somewhere wanted it to be so. The writers of these publications just do not predict the future like that unless your in the know. Once is a coincidence, twice hardly, 3 times........hmmm.

I don't think it's 'ALL' a stage, but i also do not think this is happening by accident either.

A friend of my son, a young man in his late 20s and usually healthy, has just been tested positive. He is only one mile away from where I live so it is creeping upon us. Of course in most cases it is mild but some of us have underlying respiratory  health conditions and are in our 70s. A local hospital has limited IC resources so I am hopeful that Spain has more ventilators  etc.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I agree. However I avoid crowded places here and shop late at night when there a few people around. Unfortunately people are moving out of their apartment to let me stay and will be returning after the 2 weeks. I think I would feel better in a hotel.

Boris Johnson was thinking about banning the showing of football matches in pubs
Where have you read that? Sounds like a Daily Mail headline to me!

Ya, Yahoo News. Which picks up it's news from places like Daily Mail.

Taking your news from places like Yahoo is like getting your facts from Facebook!

Is there a single reputable news outlet saying banning footbal in pubs is even a consideration?

EDIT: This is the guy who wrote that, he's a "freelancer", which is code for "I send stuff in and they publish it".

Look at his previous jobs. I'd suggest he's not the most reliable "journolist".

True, but what is to say he is wrong and someone more 'reputable' is right? Who is classed as reputable anyway? I have read articles from ALL mainstream news sources over the years and ALL have been known to tell lies. Same as polaticians really.

(And i tried to correct the spelling mistake but it is not letting me.)

I just forwarded the link, which I googled. I also wouldn't class the Daily Mail as a newspaper - one for old people who have been reading it for 30+ years and don't realise it's a gossip magazine now, with little in the way of facts.

I've seen a graph which basically plotted out the increase of the virus and timelines for various countries - and it does at the moment look like Spain, UK & USA - are following the same pattern as China/Italy, just we are a few days behind.

On that basis forget 'football in pubs', they may shut the pubs and any public places down - at the moment, given the level of changing news on a daily basis - anythings possible, this is already starting to be the case in a few other countries.

...

but what is to say he is wrong and someone more 'reputable' is right?

Common sense? The fact no one else is reporting it?

You can't start paying attention to BS headlines based on nothing more than the notion that it might be right. Otherwise, you'll end up believing that Freddie Star really did eat a hamster!

Who is classed as reputable anyway?

Well, for a start, the ones who's headlines are at least even loosely based on fact?

If Johnson did say football on TV in pubs is up for being banned I'm confident it'd make the mainstream news services pretty quickly. So far it doesn't seem to have, so I'm calling it BS.

This seems to be the biggest challenge with regards to corona virus: There is so much pure nonsense out there, most of it clickbait, and a willing army of people who seems happy to spread itand even defend it.

UPDATE (and back on topic) 500 new cases already today in Spain. I'd agree with everything TVtech has said: This is going to get very bad very quickly.

UPDATE2 Now 687 new cases so far today with 29 new deaths. FECK!
