Hello Emma,

Slight miscalculation which means you still need a lot but would help you.

1 x €27,115.20 for the first person

3 x €6,778.80 for you and 2 sons (€20,336.40)

So your family as a whole will need a total of €47,451.60 income per annum plus Annual Private Health Insurance.

Thanks

Darran

Yes I do apologise for my basic mistake of getting my addition incorrect.

The individual figures are correct for the persons who would be applying but there would be 4 adults of working age.

Thanks Darren.

How much would health care cost for four?

Also, is it 15% added on property of house you have to pay?

Thanks, Emma.

So what will your plan be now, do you think that you will all be (eventually) making the application to live here in Spain or has the Increased requirements for income and healthcare put things back?

Don't give up on your dream!!!

We are still hoping to make the move in a couple of years. If not, we will regret not trying. We will manage.

Hi Emma,

There are thousands of properties including beautiful villas and quality apartments just on the outskirts of Benidorm city centre area. Just outside the city limits the prices drop dramatically and you would still be able to walk to the bustling day and night life in half an hour or catch a (very...

... frequent) bus.

My wife and I live in a 3 bedroom apartment with a view of the sea from our 18 foot long balcony. We have mainly Spanish neighbours who are fantastic people and are always kind and friendly. We can walk to the old town and enjoy the beautiful scenery or visit the beaches within half an hour. The "British area" can easily be avoided if you wanted to but it can be quite nice there and we have had some nice evenings talking to "younger" holidaymakers. Not all British are lager louts. If we want quiet times we just sit on our balcony and there is hardly a sound to be heard.

Before you fully decide your chosen area it might be worth a second look at Benidorm.

Steve

Thanks Steve, I'll have a look.

Any areas you recommend please?

Benidorm would suit our son and daughter better i think (and ourselves) we love the old town.

Thanks, Emma.

I can recommend the outskirts of the Rincon area as that is where I live but it depends on the lifestyle you want to live. The Poniente side is far quieter than the Lavante side where the club area and most of the nightlife takes place. La Cala  (the very far end of Benidorm) is even quieter and is more Spanish style. There is Albir which is about 4 km outside Benidorm but it's to quite there for us and its packed with retired Expats and virtually closed up at 9pm and a ghost town in winter. Benidorm is an al year round resort and open 24 hours in certain areas (depending what you want!!) .

We like where we are....there are enough expat bars where we meet up with others. Loads of places to eat, indoor and outdoor markets. Several supermarkets and even a branch of Iceland with loads of English brands, although we prefer  a lot of Spanish food. The Scenery of mountains and the Mediterranean sea is great to see every day....

I would never go back to the UK.
