Mack I have Never heard that term ' Homer's ' used to describe working Cash in Hand .

The term I've always heard to describe doing a job for cash is ' Doing a foreigner '

Note to Ray D , and others ....

Never done it myself.  Of  course  ! 😏

LeckyLes.

Hi les I've used it all my working life not done any heard others talking about them though 😲🤣 could be a Scottish thing I have heard the  term foreigner though years ago when people got there sofas recovered we referred it to a homer as we done it in the house rather than taking in to workshop to recover

In Elda & surrounding shoe & leather workers as " a cottage industry" at "home"

They also make bags & purses at home. Slightly different I think of nicking one!

Mack, Thanks for that explanation, the term' homer ' makes sense, bearing in mind  that historic context 👍

Ray D , that comparison is not correct.

Stealing  a Persons possessions is something to be rightly condemned, but can in no way whatsoever be levelled as the same as somebody for whatever their, financial, or personal  reasons finding themselves doing a  ' homer ' or ' foriegner '

I believe I read ,previously, you saying you are a regular churchgoer, and as such I would say ' He who is Without Sin amongst you, let him cast the first stone.... '  😏

Another round of brit bashing ignoring the fact  most other non Spanish nationals are at it as well , and the perceived notion that all Spaniards play by the rules  is laughable .

Wonder why nearly 60% of Spaniards do not have a  bank account  …??

If only monochrome  is real in life. It´s usually taken to mean the same as black and white but, more likely, greyscale in reality.

Widely reported in the local rags and the Spanish press a few months ago  , also questions were asked in Brussels , please keep up at the back please ..!!

The Spaniards have the attitude that they do not trust their  banking system  or the government  , that is why  there is such a large black economy and the Spaniards prefer to keep their assets in cash , you do seem to have rose coloured view of Spain   and the Spanish , remember they have been pillageing , raping countries ,stealing others assets and claiming it as there own [ even after they admitted it was from south americar ] they are well versed in the art of relieving you of your assets or cash , they have centuries of experience  as some find today  …!!!

In history, I can think of more than two empires that fitted that bill.

Many people keep "cash" or assets/ art/ houses/ or under the bed other than banks for the simple obvious of decrease in appreciation interests.

I smile to myself when I read the many comments made by 'Mr and Mrs Angries'  who feel the need to report various breaches of community regulations, or a local Spaniard or ex-pat  who picks up a few euros on the 'black'.  I think of the tens of thousands of denuncias made during Hi...

Love this response
