Shortly will be looking around the southern costa blanca area for a new home but as I am at present north of Alicante,don't have much idea of a suitable location.Since we have all just had a taste of the annual rainstorms it seems sensible to find out how you fared further south. Comments much appreciated.

Hi: I am in Guardamar and all the town's arround are similar. The area is so flat so water doesn't make any damage here. In the worse case only there is a very small area with a flood problem.
In the north of Alicante is different because that area is more mountainous.
Maybe you can ask in the town hall you are interested if the area where you will buy could be flood.

This is such a non-problem! We have our home in the very Northern Costa Blanca (Dénia) surrounded by beautiful mountains! I can hand on heart say that the very few rainy days we get we have never had a problem with rains! I guess in the final analysis you need to decide if you prefer the colour drab brown to green?

I live in Crevillent. We are elevated and also protected by the mountains behind us: all the rain goes to the Hondons which is why they grow the wine.... There are no mosquitos or biting flies here unlike the flood plain towns like Catral and Dolores etc.
Come and see us sometime.... Crevi is a rich town, very cosmopolitan.

Thank you Richard,I may well look over your town as I haven't yet lived in a place in Spain where I have been free of insect bites! I was sure that some places in the south of costa blanca did have some problem with flooding at times,hence my enquiry.
