I contacted one of these companies on behalf of my neighbour that will do all the paperwork and make everything legal re bringing a car from UK. They quoted almost €1000.

I guess quite a few Forum Members may have imported their car at some point. Does anyone have suggestions of a less expensive way of doing this?

Seems about par for the course if not cheap depending on what things like headlights cost which alone can come to that - or more!

I have my car here in La Zenia and am thinking of leaving it here.  Can anyone tell me how to go about this?  It is almost 10 years old

There's a lot of useful information on Graham's website:

I am just changing my car to Spanish registration.  Go to Redovan ITV and the company next door, SGA, will inspect the car and issue a Ficha Technica for 108.00 euros.   Then go into the ITV office and give them the Ficha and they will charge you 98 euros for the ITV test.  When it passes then take the paperwork to your nearest Gestor who will charge you about 180 euros and you will get the new Spanish document in a couple of weeks.  Good luck

I was worried about how to go about this and who to use but we've just used spanish-number-plates.com to make our car legal over here. Would definitely recommend them. Graham and Leigh detailed the procedure clearly and itemised the cost before we agreed to using them. It took about seven days. Getting legal takes away the stress of seeing a Police road block in the distance!!!

Sounds very useful. Where are you based. We're newbies and reside near Catral. Thanks Kaz
