We are Residents, held an Expansion Account with Sabadell for many years and as we paid in State Pensions over 700€ pm we had no charges.

Sabadell no longer offer the Expansion Account and in order to retain free banking customers have to have certain Sabadell products. We don’t want or need any of them.

I’m aware I can pay all my direct debits using my Wise or Revolut Accounts but does anyone know if there is a way to use an ATM without incurring charges?

Have you actually been told by Sabadell that you will be incurring new charges?

I'm with Sabadell with an Expansion account and get free banking. I've not heard anything from Sabadell to say there will be recurring charges.

This is the Tweet I have just received from Sabadell

“The Expansión account doesn't exist anymore. It's no longer in use. If you have a Sabadell Account you can find information through this link:

https://www.bancsabadell.com/cs/Satellite/SabAtl/Cuenta-Sabadell/1191346505022/en/ “

Regards,

Gerardo

I'm in the same boat as you, Steve. Let's keep each other and everybody else informed of any news on this subject.

Changing banks would be a massive inconvenience, but I will if Sabadell pushes it....

I have been with Sabadell since 2017 with an Expansion Account with regular monthly deposits and started being charged for maintenance of the account late last year, I received a message from them informing me of the changes.

It is a tier system with different charges depending on the amount in the account and the products you have with them.

I had free banking with sabadell then they told there would a charge of €20 a quarter, I told them I will stop paying in my pension and was told it would be €80 a quarter.

But if I take out a insurance with them their banking would be free.

If you have a certain amount paid in per month from pensions etc and stay over a certain threshold then it's still without charges.
