Hi Gill,

I’d highly recommend La Mata which is just along the coast from Torrevieja. It’s a lovely old Spanish fishing village with a wonderful bus service into Torrevieja ( every 20 minutes). It’s on the level mostly. Stunning beach, great coastal walks, numerous restaurants, bank, opticians, tobac...

...conist, supermarket, Catholic Church, bars, street market every Wednesday morning.  If I was considering retiring to Spain, I’d definitely consider La Mata.  Always alive, summer and winter. It’s an idyllic location. Lots of Scandinavian people there in the winter months ( fluent speakers). Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Thanks will definitely take a closer look at La Mata 🙂

Hi we live in benijofar which is central for Torry, guardamar 30 mins from alicante airport, walking distance to quesada, multi national with plenty of shops, bars, sports, football team which is only 25 euros for season ticket. Bus goes 4 times a day to Torry and 4 times a day the other way to guardamar which you pick up from rojales which you can walk to or cycle.

You need transport to live at Lo Crispin. Look at Lo Marabu which is near to Quesada and has a good variety of convenience's, supermarket, restaurants etc.
