Annoying Neighbour

We have a neighbour whose female friend visits him on a regular basis as far as we know it’s plutonic, but for the purposes of my posting that’s irrelevant. The friend is more often than not drunk and abusive to other Community residents and visitors. She plays loud music, often uses vile language. We have called the police twice when she’s threatened physical abuse but they say it’s a Community matter ( she speaks Spanish so we don’t know what story she gives them). Our neighbour doesn’t seem to want to deal with the situation despite promises to do so. Our Administrators day there is little we as a Community can do.

Any sensible, lawful suggestions from Forum members ?

On the odd occasion she is sober have you tried speaking to her? I don't know what you mean administrators but if they aren't doing anything about it then they maybe know the girl

Hi Piekoz,

Theats of physical abuse against others is not a community matter. Did you phone the Guardia Civil or Policia Local?

If your neighbour, or the friend when she's sober, don't respond positively to your complaints, you'll need to make a "denuncia" against the woman at your nearest Guardia Civil station, a statement of the facts, signed by all neighbours who have been subjected to, or witnessed, the events.

You are lucky. When I rented this apartment where I am now, the estate agents did not tell me about the drunkards next door.

The woman is a nasty drunk and the man is a violent drunk.A number of tenents have complained about them before but the Admin do nothing.

She fell over when drunk and he blamed me and attacked me.The police came and told me not to answer the door to either of them but phone them. The drunken bitch tried twice but I shouted out "police" to her. I got a report from my nearby clinic and then went to the Guardia Civil and made a complaint about the husband.

I had hoped to stay here for some years but after that I am looking to move out ASAP. In ten years of renting in Spain, the first time this has ever happened to me.

BTW, the estate agents are a disgrace.

At this instant it is rather impossible to get your rights enforced. Courts are overburdened and more than 350,000 cases are "frozen". Waiting time for a hearing excceeds 2 yeras. On May 16 judges and state attourneys willl go on strike, something in my opinnion absolutely unacceptable in a, what the Spaniards so proudly holler around, democracy.
