We've been looking at house prices in the area and the ones we've seen ONLINE seem to offer much more for your money than a lot of other areas - which worries me!  What am I missing?

Usually the area has an effect on price.

Hi Zippy

I have had a holiday home in an adjoining area to Los Altos for over 20yrs now, I don't think you are missing anything in terms of is there something that I should know.

We go up into Los Altos quite often for a drink or something to eat.

I think that it's possible that the less expensive properties are in the area of Los Altos where the Aldi supermarket is, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the area at all except that in that location there is very little in the way of entertainment, particularly the properties on the Aldi to San Miguel road ( sorry, don't know the name ) you would need to go back up into central Los Altos for that.

It all depends on your requirements for a property, many people would prefer that type of area, particularly if you were going to live there permanently and have a car but we chose where we are because it is a holiday home, where amenities are on the doorstep, that's our choice.

As always, the safe thing to do would be go and have a look around the area, you may really like it, in my opinion it's a nice area with good value property versus say the Villamartin area around the golf course where you will always pay more in that type of location.

It's all about opinions and I thought twice about posting this as someone else could come along and say I'm talking rubbish, I just wanted to reassure you that Los Altos is a decent area and worth a look.

Ken.

Hi Zippy

I second what Kenbo has said.

I would add that Los Altos is quite a hilly area (there's a clue in the name!), and if an estate agent simply says "Los Altos" you won't know if that's the bottom or the top of the hill - so ask for the name of the road.

The bottom end is handy for amenities (Inc KFC and McDonald's!), the top end much less so. If you won't have a car, the precise location becomes important for access to a bus service - the top area, around Aldi, has a limited service, the bottom end is rather good.

Cheers

Steve

Hello

I get what you mean Kenbo, I often dont post when asked about certain locations/urbanisations  because my opinion of them  would be low.

But, that's  just me and I dont want to influence someone based on what or where I  don't like. If you have lived or holidayed in these areas then your opinion is going to be more useful than mine as maye.  Ive only visited (often on a bus and thinking 'Oh no I couldnt live here' ) haha.....

Cheers

Hi

Just to say that some of Johns links are clearly out of date - made obvious by the referentes to San Javier airport, which closed down about 4 years ago.

Hi Steve,

Please can you let me know where there is a KFC and McDonalds, as I have a holiday home quite close to Aldi Supermarket and Chino and Via Park Iii is the other end of my road but have not seen any KFC  and NcDonakds.

Also please can you let me know where the bus stops are and where they go too.   If you had timings that would be so good too.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

KFC is very new and a bit awkward to find on Google maps https://www.kfc.es/encuentra-tu-kfc/kfc-en-la-calle-Minarete-2-alicante

McDonalds is on Punta Prima roundabout, close to Consum

Both are next to the N332, on the inland side

Cheers

Steve
