Hi Marion

I have a holiday home insured with Towergate Insurance, but I know they do expat resident homes as well. In July 2015 they paid out 3000€ when my solarium tiled roof was damaged by a bad hailstorm without any problems and all English covered. Having had a Spanish Insurance previously which didnt pay out on a ransacking earlier, I decided to never use a Spanish Ins Co again. They messed us about for a year on the claim and we got nothing and lost everything in a 5 bed villa. I have had to make another claim last year when my 30mtrs of chainlink fencing blew over with the weight of snow(it was old and not concreted properly) and again no problem and payout in 2wks. So I can highly recommend, they're on internet and I phoned them to check the policy was up to my expectations. English Insurance is governed by Lloyds of London and covers more than a Spanish insurance. Costwise about 300€yr but ours has risen a little with 2nd claim but expected. On the subject of retiling your roof, please dont use Ged Dobbs ie. Ged Dobson from "Ged the builder". He did ours and left us with more leaks than we already had, has refused to remedy the situation and after causing the underneath ceiling to fall down while awaiting his return, we,ve just had to pay another builder to completely retile it again. This has cost us another 3000€ out of our own pocket. The latest builder said he had never seen such a shoddy job in his life, using wrong cheap tiles not slip resistant and barely using any adhesive to grip the tiles and grossly uneven. We also lost sunloungers stored below so rusted and the mats all mildewed and parasols, approx another 250-300€ of value lost. So beware who you get to do the job.
