Hi Lee,

Having to confirm your identity to your Spanish bank is not unusual, especially for non-residents, as Spain's banking industry is responsible for the the EU's FATCA anti-fraud and money laundering regulations.

Do you have online banking with Caixa?  If so, you can complete the KYC ("Know Your Customer") form online.  In the Caixabank customer area, you'll find the form in your account Profile, in a section called "Work activity and operational profile".

However, I'm surprised Caixabank is asking you to complete Model 5433, given the consumer association, FACUA's, complaint to the Bank of Spain:

https://www.facua.org/es/noticia.php?Id=11835

In your situation, I would complete the KYC, but push back on completing the Model 5433.

Good luck and kind regards,

Kim

Hi Lee,

If you have a bank card, it appears that you can register for Caixabank's digital banking, "CaixaBankNow", online without having to visit your branch:

Kind regards,

Hi Kim, that's the problem, I did all this last year as I was a Bankia customer, Caxiatook them over, so all my cards now don't work, they won't send cards to the UK, hence I can't get online, I am going to have to come out and do it all in person, it's just such a pain, with Bankia I just scanned all the documents and emailed job done. My house is on Avery term rent, but the community charge and mortgage come out of the Caixa account
