Initially, report her by name to her branch manager. He is accountable for the overall service provided within his branch. But be sure that you can quote specifics.

Welcome to the world of Spanish banking. They are ALL the same once you have opened an account and put your money in. Lots on here will tell you that they have no problem with X bank or Y bank has been fantastic or Z bank is the best ever. But they have NO customer service, and quite frankly coul...

...dn’t give a **** about their customers, the ones that pay their wages.

What really grinds my gears is if the Banks want to get in touch with us, they expect us to respond instantly, but if we want to speak to them.....it's like trying to speak to the wizard of oz.

Yes, not very good service at all from that lady, gives the Bank a bad name. A lot of comments about all banks being the same but like Steve I've never had a problem with the staff at Sabadell, just the bank charges!

Rgds,

Aitch.

Hi

Have already sent a email to their head office, not sure whether they will take on board my constructive criticism, and ex customer dissatisfaction, will eagerly await their reply, but not holding my breath.

Best wishes

We have been with Sabadel Rojalas branch since we moved here 7 years ago. Always helpful and polite . Not as openly friendly but that is their culture.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Calling someone on this forum "English Bitch" is also bad manners.

Hi StanLady,

May I ask whether you what language you were speaking with the person in question? The reason for this is that I have noticed that many (not all but very many) people's attitude changes from somewhat indifferent if not openly hostile to much more open and helpful when you try to speak their language or use an interpreter.

There is of course no excuse for rudeness or lack or professional manners in any environment but in the long time spent living and or dealing with a number of countries for both personal and professional reasons I have noticed that this aspect is particularly relevant in Spain when public services and specifically banks are involved, bars, restaurants, shops etc. are another story of course.

What I can say from personal experience is that I have seen worse in at least a couple of other countries to include the one I originate from but also in the UK for that matter....in perspective Spain isn't the worst in the banks bad attitude league imho.

With regards to Santander I agree with a couple of previous posters, be aware that they are by no means the best once they get your money, I could tell and prove a couple of issues with regards to one of the branches in Torrevieja, nothing that can be disclosed in a public forum but enough to make one's hair curl.

We have been banking for 5 years with another less known bank, (not one of the usual suspects) in the area and can't really complain about either service or charges, of course every branch and personal situation is different.

Good luck :)

Hi StanLady,

We have a similar lady in the Almoradí branch.  It's such a shame because, when we initially opened our account there, we dealt with a lovely lady, Patricia.  However, Patricia went on maternity leave and when she returned, she seemed to have been demoted and we now have to deal with a dreadful woman, I'll call her "L".  But don't worry, you'll get your moment!

Sabadell likes to garner feedback and I had the good fortune to receive an online survey from them shortly after my last experience with "L".  I completed it honestly with specific examples of her behaviour and poor, sometimes complete failure, to respond to my emails.  About 3 months later, I received an email from "L", asking if we would go into the branch for a meeting with her.  It transpired that my survey response had been sent to the branch manager, who passed it onto her.  My husband was furious with her attitude towards us at the meeting, at one point saying he felt like he'd been put on the "naughty step".   She took particular exception to me having given her an overall survey rating of 5 - her view was that, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being highest, she felt that the service level she offered her customers was "at least an 8".  Having pointed out that, a) the survey wasn't asking for HER opinion, and b) on that scale, a 5 was average, I then proceeded to give her specific examples of why I'd rated her as a 5 and what she'd need to do to meet my expectations of an 8!

Whilst I wouldn't advocate BeniSnowbird's physical reprimand, I do agree that you need to push back firmly when met with this level of arrogance.  We've had only one occasion to visit our branch since my discussion with "L" and, I have to say, her attitude had noticeably improved!

Good luck.

Kind regards,

Kim

Good evening.

The lady in question is English, and strangley enough, she actually used to live in the same area as myself, as from our first meeting with her I found her a bit abrupt, but as i deal with all kinds of people in my line of work,I really wasn't that concerned, but when we were seeking her advice, she either wasn't returning emails or calls, may I had, that on our first arrangement appointment with her,she was taking personal calls, and arranging her shopping,on our last encounter with her,she gave us wrong information, and although she was aware, and we acknowledged her,she still kept us waiting, after and before speaking to our friends and neighbours in spain, they did warn us that the banks do leave a bit to be desired, so we were a little prepared, but she was just down right rude, and unhelpful, but thank you for your advice and experience, we will take it on board.

Best wishes

Hi Kim

We decided to go into a santander branch, we spoke to an Spanish lady called steph, she came over helpful, friendly and had a pleasant manner about her,she said it would be very easy to change all our direct debits,so we shall be changing to them when we are over next time,we do understand they can all be a little slower than we are used to, but we don't tolerate, rude, unhelpful people, and at the end of the day, we are giving them our business.

Best wishes
