We are here just now. Very pleasant. I think the problem here is in Madrid.

You have no idea what you are saying. People all over the UK are under a type of lockdown which is confusing pretty much every one including poor old Boris.  At the moment, the people in part of Wales, the north of England and Northern Ireland are subjected to the weirdest rules which are ne...

...cessary but very difficult to come to terms with. We are not allowed to have anybody in our homes. Only 6 people in the garden but they must be from only 2 households. Restaurants are having their rules changed so often that it is nigh impossible to keep up to date with the rules.  Where you are in Spain, you are living the dream and a mask us all you are required to wear.

It was like that here until about 3 weeks ago and suddenly all hell let loose. The same all over Scotland, England and Wales. Please watch yourselves as it will more than likely come your way and it could be with a vengeance. Don’t make jokes about our Prime Minister and the rules. It is common knowledge that the man is still far from well and is putting a brave face on. Covid 19 left him unwell and anyone else would have gone on the “sick” but he was obliged to return to work almost immediately.

This darned pandemic isn’t funny. I’d like to say that everyone is doing his/ her best but we are all human beings and sometimes forget what is expected of us.

It is clear to see that many people do not want to follow any sort of rules. Watch the news. Crowds leaving pubs and staying in the street having a street party. Everyone has heard about the dangers but not everyone wants to behave or to believe what we are being told.

I live in Spain and did through the tightest lockdown in Europe so don't try and teach me how to suck eggs as you are starting to have a rant!! When we were in lockdown we weren't allowed out at all but for shopping or Farmacia!! No visiting anyone else at all!!

Spain went through a lockdown that was policed rigidly unlike the community style policing practices of the UK.

Every news story on tv about Covid shows crowds of people in the UK without masks and social distancing.  Police just walk through the crowd saying nothing. Here you will still get fined or arrested!!

Some of your comments don't make sense especially about boris. His ministers make the rules but don't enforce them, crazy times...

Can't resist I'm afraid....

Doesn't this prove that lockdowns don't do anything except pospone it

That's becoming the general consensus in certain areas. Even I am starting to think that way but I will certainly stick rigidly to the rules, masks included.

I’m going to Mil Palmeras this weekend is there any rumours of a lockdown in the next couple. Of weeks

Hi

Have a look at Gov.UK for Spain travel advice and on the Coronavirus page you will see a little link in the article to look at which says “consult the ministry of health map”.

That shows a map of Spain and shows where cases are - we are along the coast between Alicante and Murcia and it shows very little cases for us.

Hope this helps you decide smile

GraemeP It has already been acknowledged by many "experts" that the lockdowns were nothing to do with curing the virus, but more to do with reducing the need for hospital beds in national health authorities. Think back to the panic buying of PPE and ventilators. There is a story in today's press of ventilators, in the UK, purchased at a 50% premium, languishing, unused in warehouses. Remember that this virus reportedly kills less people than flu annually, what was completely politically unacceptable was that number of deaths occurring in a few months and pictures of black body bags piled up awaiting disposal.

Thank you for replying. we have now decided not to come on this occasion, nothing to do with what’s happening in Spain , it’s the fact that you have to quarantine when we get back for 14 days which we will find very  difficult. As soon as it is lifted  we will come ,

This virus is essentially a pneumonia virus which is so virulent.  Compared to ‘flu it is a killer if it attacks someone with chest problems. COPD and you are done for.  ‘ flu?  Come on, stop kidding yourselves.  There are none so blind as those who will not see.  Stop fooling yourselves. None of the oldies need to come in contact with Covid 19. Wise up.  Honestly, at timesI am shocked by some of the posters on here.  Perhaps you are in your 50’s and in perfect health but please do not think for one moment that we slightly oldies think covid19 is in the same as normal influenza’cause it isn’t.
