On a recent flight back to the UK from Alicante, I was quite disgusted with the overcrowding on the shuttle bus.

I do not think it would be fair on blaming the airline, because you are under the "care" of the airport authority AENA until such time you are on the aircraft.

After going through the strict social distancing throughout the airport from entering the building to leaving it, we were then crammed on to the shuttle bus standing shoulder to shoulder.  I counted 50+ passengers on the bus.

I know that you are only on the bus for a few minutes, but this is unacceptable. It is surely a breach of covid regulations.

What made matters worse, was that the second shuttle bus that came along had fewer than 20 passengers on board.

Has anyone else had similar experiences going through the airport?

Every time, covid or no covid I have yet to get on a shuttle bus that was not overcrowded, and hot and stuffy.

By the time you will get aware that in Spain anything can happen anywhere anytime to anyone.

Does it really make an awful lot of difference when the flight is fully booked anyway with no social distancing whatsoever.  It always amazes me when the plane has just landed and everyone immediately jumps up to retrieve their belongings leaning over seats etc.

Hi , yeah just had exactly the same experience at alicante, ridiculous rules in the airport and then crowded into the bus like cattle

I think the difference being that whilst seated on the plane you are not in direct contact with other people, or at most one sat next to you.

We flew with BA last week, they boarded the flight by row number and everyone was able to keep a safe distance during boarding. On landing at Alicante they made everyone sit in their seats and disembarked 5 rows at a time. No overcrowding and interestingly it was quicker getting off than the usual melee when the plane lands.

Aitch.

Sounds good to me.  I flew back with Ryanair in July and nothing had changed. I am flying again at the end of the month so hopefully things will be as you describe.  Fingers crossed.
