Not been in monovar since February and thinking of coming over to check out our house.  Is it easy to travel around now, can we drive to Alicante and back, is shopping at mercadonna ok.  We have had some conflicting messages about life and Covid.  Is eating and drinking out still allowed. Any feedback would be appreciated

Sorry but there is no way to get reliable information, everything can change at any time. Many bars and restaurants are closed or apply heavy restrictions. Most groceries are open as well as chemists, tobacco shops and whatever is considered as "elementary necessary". Noone is allowed to move unless he has a valid "reason" whatever that may be.

Hi Clive,

Monover is fine and shopping at the supermarket doesn't have challenges - they are *really* careful about distancing, masks on (everywhere, as soon as you get out of your car) and have sanitisers at the entrance for your hands and trolley. The cafes are open and spaced, with numbers limitations. There is the regional curfew (Valencian) in force and you cannot travel over internal borders e.g. there are police check points on the road north to Jamilla. Alicante is in the Valencian region so you are staying in the state. As killjoy says - it is a very moveable state at the moment but the press and N332 are good sources.

Whether you can travel through Spain to other than your permanent residence is another matter. I suspect not. Sorry.

Best wishes,

D&J

Many thanks indeed for the reply, just the information we needed, but Vueling have cancelled our flights again.  Hope to meet when we eventually get out!

Absolutely Clive and Helen. Things will change.

Today saw the decision by Murcia region to close restaurants etc apart from take-aways. Valencian region may do similar so watch the news. Murcia's border isn't very far away so Yecla and Jamilla are out as we noted. It is a bit of a limitation say for the people there as access to say facilities at Pinoso are out, including mailboxes at TFX.

That said, life is good here. A little rain over 2 days which has been useful for the orchards and a dry, 20-22 degree outlook over the next week so happy days! Keep your spirits and aspirations up ;-)

Best wishes,

Dave ('n Jules)

Hi Clive, hope you and Helen are well, we met briefly when you popped in for a glass of vino which seems a long time ago now, we intended to see you before you went back but a day or two after seeing you we were both ill like we've never been before, we went back to England for 3 months last summer and we've been back out here since October. we pass the road to your your place most days and all seems well, hope to see you both when possible.

Count us in when and if we can hopefully past these restrictions ;-)

Paul - you have my number.

If Murcia is opening up this week then local views says that Valencia will follow, usually 2 weeks afterwards. Bring it on. The villages have been ghost towns with chairs stacked up, but we know the sense.

I need to get away from gardening for a while lol

D (&J of course)
