Hi everyone

Whilst driving on the AP7 recently in a hire car I saw that dreaded flash in my rear view mirror and yes a couple of weeks later the car hire company took €40 off my credit card. Hands up yes I am guilty but my question is will that speeding 'ticket' get transferred to my UK (not European) driv...

...ing licence?

I am guessing the €40 is the fine plus the hire company's admin charge, does anyone know what the actual fine is? I was doing about 100 KMPH in a 80KMPH section of the motorway

Thanks ahead of your comments

As quoted above the fine will be 100 and the admin cost from the hire company is 40 so 140 but if paid within the 20 days 90

Tell me about it. After 24 hrs driving thru France and the UK. It's easy to go on autopilot and miss the signs.

Whatever may or may not happen with fine enforcement there are no agreements for the awarding or deducting of points and nor are their likely to be in anybody here's lifetime!

Of course post Brexit anything the remaining EU countries may agree in the far distant future will affect British drivers even less than it does now.

So here's an update for everyone, just confirming how helpful everyone is on this forum but also the actual timescales in case anyone else is unlucky enough to be in the same situation!

The speeding occurred on 14 July, Firefly took the €40 admin fee on 30 July

Ministerio Del Interior wrote to me at my UK address (as that's what's on my licence) on 14 August which arrived 1 September ie 18 days later. So as I paid on 2 September I did get the 50% discount to €50. Phew!

The payment process was easy enough, on the website www.dgt.es although it would only let me pay by credit card so there was an additional charge by my credit card provider for the non sterling transaction fee

My conscience is clear!

Hey,

The radar catch my cat in July near Alicante; 144KMH for 120 authorized; I received the fine directly at my office in France; 100€, with a reduction of 50% if I pay rapidly; I paid with my credit card the same day 50€; end of the story !

regards
